Autumn leaves on some trees just seem to hang on forever. Whereas aspens and birches drop at a slight wind, oaks hang on, some all the way through winter, in fact, only to be pushed off when spring buds appear. And that fact can make for interesting photographs. When winter snows come and dress the tree in a coat of white, those tenacious leaves stand out as a subtle splash of color and contrast in the picture. In this case, we have had enough rain before snow that our mosses also greened up on the sides of the trunks, but still what stands out for me is the overall feeling of Autumn being surprised by Winter in this picture.

Well, Iām no Brenda Tharp! š
Tremendous Brenda. Have always wanted an image like this!
Thank you John. Your comments are most appreciated! I find it hard to believe in your library of killer images that you don’t have something close to this. Heck, you live in the snow when it’s happening, I have to drive to it. š But it is a timing thing, that’s for sure. I got lucky.
