So here we are, working in the on-again-off-again rain of the day, and finally, wet and cold, we decide to call it a day and head for the hotel. We get into town, and are about to turn into the hotel parking lot, and whammo! – the sun breaks through the clouds behind the other ridge and lights up the back side of the Watchman and nearby formations. Holy Cow – we screeched to a halt, jumped out with cameras and went running for a clear space to capture this amazing light. Didn’t even think about the fact that we were running through Utah mud – which means in about five steps you’re four inches taller with how much has stuck to your boot soles. Never mind, we could deal with those issues later. It was, after all, about the light and the last light of the day and a great week with a terrific group of participants!
Heh, thanks JB! Yes, it was similar – when you least expect it, the sun can create magic – I just we we could see beyond the mountains to know what was coming but then again that’s part of the thrill – scrambling to capture the light – and hoping you can at least get a decent scene to work with…
WOW! Reminds me of the time we were both there with different groups and had a similar situation happen. AMAZING Brenda.
