Buddha Sculpture

Photography is all about the experiences we have while making pictures. While teaching a workshop, I was running around to help those that needed help working in this garden. As I rounded the corner, the light was softly striking this stone sculpture. It silently effused calm, the classic smile of serenity of the Buddha. It was a reminder to me that no matter how hectic the pace of our everyday lives, we need to take moments to breathe in, and breathe out, and be calmer. With only part of the face in my composition, I tried to express some of the mystery that surrounds all religion, the part we can’t know, but have to trust.

So breathe out the Old Year, and breathe in the New Year, rich with possibility for peace, prosperity and serenity in your own life!

Happy New Year!! And thanks for being here.
