This past weekend we drove back from DRY Death Valley, up 395 on the eastern side of the Sierra. We were on our way to visit a friend at his cabin on highway 50, but things changed, so we continued on up to drive the shores of Lake Tahoe. Our gain!! Saturday morning had left the whole area with a sweet coating of snow on everything, and another storm was brewing, ready to drop it’s lovely flakes all over the region once again. With just a few hours to play before we had to head down to home, we explored around along the south and western shore. The hush over the landscape was palpable – something I’ve always loved about snowfall’s ability to quiet the white noise. I find it quiets the mind, too.
I was also excited to test the dynamic range of my Sony with dark wet trees and bright clean snow. It did an amazing job with wonderful detail.
