ROCKS AND LEAVES ON THEM DON’T MOVE IN THE WIND!

We were checking out this cove/harbor, looking at the larger landscape (some of us), but being me, I was gravitating towards a more intimate scene. I grabbed this leaf on the trail down when it caught my eye – it had such a beautiful variation in colors – the essence of change expressed in it. I often do that, just carrying things of beauty with me as a way to feel the connection with nature around me. So when I got to the beach and saw these wonderful wet beach pebbles, I just knew that the leaf was going to be a great focal point to the composition. I used my 90mm Tilt Shift lens as it focuses closeand allows me to tilt the lens to be more parallel to the slope of the beach. Used a Polarizing filter, too, but was careful not to eliminate the wet feeling. I then processed this image through Lightroom 4, then took it into Viveza to make final adjustments to bring the leaf detail out a bit more.
