Marjorelle Gardens, a botanical oasis once owned by Yves Saint-Laurent, in Marrakech, Morocco

I had an opportunity finally to try out HDR Efex Pro 2 from NIK. The image above from our 2010 Morocco photo tour was processed using it in addition to Lightroom final touches. The changes look good so far. One major change: it has an up-front interface that allows you to adjust exposure, and chromatic aberration, and for ghosting control you can chose one of the images where things were moving the least if at all, a nice feature. Once that’s done, you land inside the familiar interface of all Nik software with the presets down the left and the main image in the middle, with control panels on the right. I’ll be back with more information once I’ve worked with this version a bit!

Many of my images are processed with Nik’s software – it’s user-friendly and powerful enough to create the look I want with my photographs. You can get a 15% discount when buying any NIK products (but download a trial first) by entering the code “BTharp” when checking out.
